The Greek words GEENNA, HADES and TARTAROO were all translated as HELL
except for 1Co 15:55. The Hebrew word SHEOL was not consistently translated
as HELL. This section was generated to try and figure out how the King
James translators determined when to use the English word HELL for the
Hebrew Word SHEOL. I speculated that they might have did so depending on
whether or not the person(s) in the text were Righteous or Unrighteous.
The tables below show the results of my theory. I'll let you decide if
these tables help to determine how the translators made their decisions.
I used The Englishman’s Hebrew Concordance of the
Old Testament to find ALL occurrances of the Hebrew word SHEOL.
